Hero's of the Nation orphanage in Nyahururu, Kenya

In 2009 Lejo Ouwendyk, his Family, and the staff at Kennerlys decided to build a 40 bed dormitory for young children at Hero’s of the Nation orphanage in Nyahururu, Kenya.

Raising over AUD$80,000 for this project, took some time and with much enthusiasm and a lot of hard work the project is now finished and ready for 40 kids to use along with the school at the orphanage.

The orphanage is one that is committed to becoming self-sufficient. The orphanage all together looks after nearly 500 children who also attend the school.

Since taking on this commitment there have been many setbacks in the building of the dormitory but nothing too big to stop the project and Lejo is looking forward to seeing the now complete project on 19th October 2011 and see some of the kids that have moved in.
