My Roots

After completing a commerce degree at the University of Notre Dame I was invited to join the Audit division at Arthur Andersen in Perth. Two years later I graduated to a Taxation position with Sothertons in West Perth. From here I ventured into setting up, buying and selling a number of small businesses, including establishing my own accounting practice. This gave me invaluable experience and a first-hand understanding of business owner’s needs.

My Journey at Kennerlys

In 2006 an opportunity came up to take on and run Kennerlys and I became Managing Partner. This was a big yet well thought out step for me and the last 4 years have been exciting, challenging and rewarding. I have had the pleasure of getting to know many of the loyal Kennerlys clients as well as shaping Kennerlys into a much admired mid-tier accounting practice.

My Passion

When I was a young I used to love watching my father run his commercial painting business, and since then I have always been passionate about watching enterprises grow and develop. My excitement in listening to business owners and being able to provide them with innovative solutions is the reason I come to work every day.

I have been coaching businesses for more than 5 years now and have found there is a growing trend towards SME’s seeking outside advice and support to help them grow and develop their enterprise. In response to this, I have been developing Kennerlys to be able to provide more support to SME’s to help them unlock their true potential and I am proud of what we can now offer to clients.

My Life After Work

I like to think that my commitment in dealing with my clients is reflected outside of work too. I am a dedicated father to three young girls, and also believe strongly in giving back to the community.

I am engaged in supporting the business community through public speaking and offering workshops and seminars to help others drive successful and accountable businesses.

I am President of the Stirling Business Assocation which assists businesses in succeeding in their endeavours

RecentIy, my family and the team at Kennerlys have raised enough money to build an orphanage in Kenya, a project which we all hope to remain involved in for years to come.

In my spare time I enjoy windsurfing, playing my tenor and soprano saxophone, paddling on the river, movies and musicals and of course shopping with my girls!

My Roots

After leaving school, I worked as a Receptionist/Events Co-ordinator in Perth. Being a busy Mum this allowed me to balance my home life with my work life while also equipping me with invaluable people skills.

As my daughter became older and I was able to have a ‘day job’, I decided to move into Accounting & Taxation. I began by working for a Public Accountant in Sydney and then worked for Kennerly Nicholsons/Ernst & Whinney in Perth where I built up valuable experience.

My Journey at Kennerlys

I joined Don Kennerly as a partner in the initiation of Kennerlys during 1989 and I have been coming to work here at 5.30am in the morning since then!

Over my time here, I have been lucky enough to work with a variety of small to medium businesses in different industries which has given me the practical experience to advise clients on a range of issues.

Many of my clients have been with me for the duration of my time at Kennerlys and I am now working with second and third generations of family businesses.

I now have over 35 years of experience in Accounting & Taxation.

My Passion

I enjoy working closely with my clients to ensure they have the skills to effectively manage their businesses on an ongoing basis.

I believe in providing a personal approach, and getting to know my clients. My clients say I am friendly and have a good sense of humour and I believe this is vital in building long lasting relationships with my clients. I make sure I am always available for them when they need help.

I am also a member of the Australian Society of Public Accountants and Company Secretary/Company Director for various private companies.

My Life After Work

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, cooking and football.

Client Manager (CPA)

My is a CPA with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Taxation) from Curtin University. A long-term member of staff, My has been with Kennerlys for over 4 years and enjoys working with our loyal and valued clients. Previous to Kennerlys, she spent 18 months working with Lejo in his business, Escapade Business Solutions. My’s role at Kennerlys is to act as a consultant for our valued client’s, looking after their needs, answering their queires and solving problems they have. She works on Tax Planning for clients and the preparation of Financials and Tax Returns for individuals, companies, trusts and self-managed superannuation funds as well as bookkeeping for various organisations. In her spare time My enjoys listening to music and reading.

Josie Ge

Client Manager (CPA)

Josie graduated from ECU in 2005 with a Master of Professional Accounting and is now CPA qualified. Josie started out at Kennerlys 3.5 years ago as a Corporate Secretary and through dedication and hard work has enjoyed promotion first to an Accountant, then Senior Accountant and now Client Manager. Josie’s role at Kennerlys is to act as a consultant for our valued client’s, looking after their needs, answering their queries and solving problems they have. She works on Tax Planning for clients and the preparation of Financials and Tax Returns for individuals, companies, trusts and self-managed superannuation funds as well as bookkeeping for various organisations. Josie enjoys the challenges and rewards of being a client manager – she works hard to empathise with clients when they have urgent problems and to make sure that she satisfies their needs, and she likes to hear good comments from clients when she has solved their problems. In her spare time, Josie enjoys playing golf, ballroom dancing, socialising and reading.

Qi Lin

Senior Accountant (CPA)

Lin graduated from Edith Cowan University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Commerce and is CPA qualified. Lin started at Kennerlys as a Graduate Accountant 4 years ago, and is now a Senior Accountant who enjoys working with our friendly clients and getting to know them all. Lin’s main role at Kennerlys is to prepare Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns for a wide range of clients as well as tax compliance and advisory. In her spare time, Lin enjoys shopping, travelling and going on the internet.
